Not a Cookie Cutter World Any More!
There’s no doubt that the face of health care will change, that we will all be managing and handling our well-being differently in the months and years to come. No delay in the Affordable Care Act or regulatory revisions will impact the inevitable.
As more and more employers move to a defined contribution model within private health exchanges and employees explore the offering, employees are likely to see many more options than just health care. Why? Because it just makes sense. As we head into this era of more accountability in healthcare, we believe we are also headed into an era of new business models surrounding the provision of that healthcare both on the part of the healthcare industry and for employers.
Employers can provide many more choices for employees in this new model, beyond the standard health, dental and vision packages. Employees can then choose what best fits them, their families and their financial situation. The one size fits all, cookie cutter health care model is a thing of the past.
Imagine a world where you can focus your efforts and spend your money on wellness programs or buy an option to consult a doctor as needed, when needed. Employers can include life insurance, short and long-term disability coverage and a critical illness policy; all in one place, no more managing multiple policies from different logins.
Soon we’ll be living in a world where the providers no longer tell us what’s good for us, where we can decide what’s best.
So when someone says to you “what’s the big deal about these private health exchanges,” you can smile that healthy smile and say “choices my friend, choices.”
