The Bridge to Nowhere…
There’s enough finger pointing in Washington right now over the failed Healthcare.gov web site launch that we don’t need to jump on the bandwagon. Not much at least. We will say that it is a gross over simplification to say, “We did not adequately do end-to-end testing” as Secretary Sebelius recently stated. The missteps likely began at the very outset of the project with a failure to test the code as the system was built which would eliminate any downstream failures in the progam. Once one bad piece of code is in place, it’s just a snowball effect after that.
Out here in the private sector we can only watch, and be thankful that private health care exchanges not only approach the marketplace differently, but have a technology standard that’s as high as any you will see in the financial services realm. Why? Because why would it be anything other than that?
In the end, we have no way of knowing how much money will be spent on the federal exchange to make it work, or whether it will go the way of other huge government projects that have been like the bridge to nowhere. What we do know is that we will just keep on doing what we do best – technology, customer experience, reliability.
